Vaccinations for the Canary Islands

For the Canary Islands vaccinations are in most cases not required.

Rabies
On the Canary Islands you have the risk of getting infected with Rabies if you get bitten by a bat. If you are planning to visit caves which house bats on the Canary Islands we advise you to get vaccinated for rabies. If you are not vaccinated for Rabies and you get bitten by a bat which is possibly infected we advise you to visit a doctor or hospital as soon as possible to get the treatment needed. You need the treatment within a week after you have been bitten.

Sun protection
The sun in the Canary Islands can be very strong. Therefor we recommend you to use protection against the sun during the day. We also recommend to avoid the sun and stay in the shade as much as possible during the hottest part of day, around noon.
